Life lessons from running
Chuffed by achieving my goal of running a half-marathon in under two hours, I draw some lessons which may have relevance to our life journeys.
Gandhi's relevance to the modern world
Last week I was lucky enough to spend three days in London with Indian peacemaker Rajmohan Gandhi. Among the key themes he addressed in a series of public and private events was the power of hatred in the modern world, and the threat to stability in India.
A great team to work with
Last week I celebrated my first year at my new employer, Kodamera in Gothenburg. I love the way the team complements one another, each bringing special skills and competencies, appreciating one another, and working together to produce high quality web solutions.
Exploiting the emotional lives of others
Refugees are a gift not a threat
Mercy, not mercilessness, is a value worth defending
This morning the emotion of the last days caught up with me. Perhaps it was the pent-up emotion of having arrived in Paris last Friday evening just before the killing started.
Who really are the 'sane' ones?
Isn't it the "realists" who have run out of ideas? Isn't it the so-called "sane" who are following policies doomed to fail?
Fighting fire with fire? Or with love?
The Christian Gospel enjoins us (unless it has changed recently) to meet fire with love. To love our enemies, to love those who persecute us.
Being upset by the right thing
“The things that upset us,” Bono once said, “too often distract us from the things that should upset us.” I recognize the truth of this in my own life all too painfully often.
