*28 August 2025* After our long day yesterday we took it easy for much of the morning before exploring the little fishing village of Sommarøy which is said to have about 300 inhabitants. Clearly a thriving small community. After lunch Ester and I climbed to the top of Nordkollen, a hill of 218 metres on neighbouring Hillesøya. The views were just incredible. ![[16-GNT - 1.jpeg]]![[16-GNT - 2.jpeg]]![[16-GNT - 3.jpeg]]![[16-GNT - 4.jpeg]]![[16-GNT - 5.jpeg]] Those really are white sandy beaches! This one could almost be in Crete: ![[16-GNT - 8.jpeg]] The views out towards the island of Senja, where we took a ferry to in the afternoon were also special. ![[16-GNT - 6.jpeg]] ![[16-GNT - 9.jpeg]] ![[16-GNT - 7.jpeg]] ![[16-GNT - 10.jpeg]] In the afternoon we left our campsite.... ![[16-GNT - 11.jpeg]] ... and took the ferry to Botnhamn on Senja. ![[16-GNT - Map.jpeg]] Then to our campsite at Fjordbotn where we plan to spend three nights and explore Senja. << [[The GNT, Day 15 - Svensby to Tromsø to Sommarøy]]
