*9 September 2025*
We woke with a sense that our present plan, of seven consecutive days of driving to get home, was a bit unrealistic. The cancellation of the Moskenes to Bodø ferry (see Day 24) was a major blow to our schedule, forcing us to do an additional approximately 400 kms of driving.
After a 'summit conference' we decided to drop a couple of things out of our itinerary to allow us to have a rest day, and to get home a day earlier.
So today we drove to Levanger (about 330kms). 330 kms may not sound a lot, but when you are towing a caravan, and when the roads are not always excellent, it makes for a full-enough day.

We had a quick dip in the lake before leaving.

For most of the day, the E6 winds along river valleys, and through forests.

On the whole the road is good, having been largely upgraded in recent years. In this photo you can see the new road and the old road to the right.

Many times there were roadworks as major new upgrades of the road are underway.
There were long stretches with little sign of human habitation.

Eventually the road drops down to a vast lake before reaching the fjords again at Steinkjer

We reached our camping at Levanger before 5, pretty tired but grateful for safety, warm weather - and for the prospect of a day of rest tomorrow.
