For 31 days, Elisabeth and I, together with our dog Ester, fulfilled a long-held dream: to visit the very far north of Norway. Our long-planned "Great North Trip" - we originally planned to do this in 2020, and then Covid intervened - took us through Sweden, briefly into Finland, and then to Alta in Norway, returning via Senja and the Lofoten Islands.
We towed our tiny caravan behind our electric car, covering 5,234 kms (3,252 miles). (The map below does not show the side trips we did.)

One of the challenges was to plan our stops for charging our electric car - but we found there was never a serious problem in Sweden and Norway so long as one plans ahead (apart from one place where there was no internet coverage - see Day 5!). If you are interested in statistics about the car charging, see the bottom of this page.
Some other headlines:
- We slept 28 consecutive nights in the tiny caravan (everything after Falun) and remained friends!
- We lost nothing on the journey apart from an old washing up sponge.
- There was serious rain on only 7-8 days, and decent sun on more days than that.
- The temperature was usually above 10 degrees, even at night, apart from a very few days inland. We had many days with 17-20 degrees.
- Our gratitude for safety throughout such a journey is enormous.

### Some statistics
- 5,234 kms driven
- 1,591 kWh of electricity consumed by the car
- Energy usage: 3.29 kms per kWh = 30.4 kWh per 100 kms - this is around double what we would expect if driving without the caravan
- Cost of energy: 5,781 Swedish kr = 1.10 Sw kr per km - this is around two thirds of the cost per km of driving our previous diesel car without a caravan, so perhaps one third of what the fuel would have cost with a diesel car
